Ethernet Anywhere

What is Ethernet Anywhere?

When connecting, the ultimate standard in connectivity is Ethernet.  At Core Transit we deliver ethernet point to point and hub and spoke services anywhere with our over the top Ethernet Anywhere solution.  Traditional ethernet solutions require dedicated circuits and complex deployments with long contracts.  Our solutions are simple, cost effective, and delivered over the connectivity you already have in place.

The Ethernet Anywhere Differnce

Simple

Ethernet WAN turn ups in days vs months with plug and play solutions that keep operations streamlined.

Predictable

Ethernet knowledge is all that’s required to leverage our solutions.  VLAN tags, MTU and adjacency rules are exactly what you would expect from a L2 solution.

Scalable

With aggregate throughputs of several Gbps you can scale solutions with confidence. Physical and virtual nodes deliver where you need connectivity!

Use Cases

Branch Locations

Connect Branch locations quickly without the extra overhead of complex routing configurations or extensive carrier build outs.

IoT

Simple connectivity results in simple site deployments with fewer truck rolls. Backhaul remote site data over LTE, Satellite or Broadband without the complexity.

Service Provider

Flexibility for out of band management  and performance to serve as a data path while conventional circuits are brought online in new markets.

Key Features:

Wishing you could stretch your ethernet network to remote sites?  Core Transit provides a robust set of features to extend connectivity anywhere!

Common Questions:

Will this support direct L2 adjacency over an underlying internet connection?

Yes.  An ethernet frame in one side will be the same frame that exists the other end of the link.

Can I transport 1500 byte MTU Ethernet frames?

Yes.  Our solution will transport full sized frames.  It will transport encapsulated traffic above 1500 bytes.  Be sure to discuss performance and scale considerations with out solutions team for you use case.

How does it work?

An ethernet frame enters the L2 interface toward your network, it is fragmented (if required), encapsulated and encrypted, transported to the other end of the connection where it’s decrypted, reassembled (if required) and placed on the wire as if it moved from one switch port to another.

What type of throughput / performance can I expect?

Throughput is dependent on the Ethernet Anywhere node you leverage.  Smaller devices can offer up to 300Mbps on a single stream while larger devices can do up to 2Gbps for a single stream with up to 6Gbps in aggregate (terminating multiple connections).   Of course, performance will be ~10% less than the slowest underlying connection in the underlying network data path.

Do I need a static IP address for this service?

The only site that requires a static IP address it the “hub” site.  All remote sites can then connect to this site from a dynamic IP address, from behind NAT / CG-NAT, etc.
